Our Systems
Hayes has developed proprietary processes and systems that address each of
the primary operating functions of the industry.
The Company began with the development of some of the very first
comprehensive log costing and productivity tracking software in the industry.
We have now developed and implemented:
• Industry specific purchasing and payroll software
• Equipment tracking and preventative
maintenance systems
• A satellite-linked, real-time helicopter
logging productivity suite
• Full logging phase cost analysis
• Billing and subcontractor payment software
We have also developed customized database query software that provides
us with virtually unlimited data interrogation. The existing databases
have become a vital proprietary tool, giving us a significant competitive
advantage in the industry.
Our systems enable us to:
• Give timely feedback to our employees
and customers
• Update our contract rate estimating models to
produce consistently accurate job quotes and
negotiation support
• Insist on fact-based decision making in all areas
of the business
• Provide customers with sophisticated billing and
analytical review
Specific Examples
• Based on payroll data collected on machine
operating hours, our systems generate
preventative maintenance work orders for
equipment servicing and repairs. In turn, based
on these work orders, the purchase order
system buys parts for the services required.
• Every logging block is individually costed. When
quoting a new job, a specific, similar block from
our history can be used to estimate the new job.
• A customer who is having trouble with trucking
productivity from his own crews has introduced
our trucking services to use as a benchmark. Our
systems provide detailed reports in almost any
format he requests to help him quantify
the benchmark.
• The Equipment and Maintenance Manager
wants to update the engine and transmission
in a certain style of logging truck. Our system
provides historical data that allows him to
precisely compare the actual results over the
previous nine years to the new specification
before he proposes the capital expenditure.
The equipment system also allows him to
carefully track and monitor a trial unit and
accurately compare the result to the
historical results.
