Helicopter Services
Hayes owns and operates a fleet of three Sikorsky S-61N “Shortsky” and
several Bell 206 helicopters for heli-logging, fire-fighting and
construction. Our helicopter operations are fully accredited under a
Canadian Operating Certificate for the commercial operation of
helicopters.
Logging Expertise Enhances Heli-Logging Services
Hayes is a logging company that uses helicopters to complement its full
range of forestry services, unlike some helicopter companies that yard
logs but know very little about logging. Our heli-logging services are
supported by the experience of the Hayes logging heritage and our full
range of forestry services.
We have been involved in aviation since 1979 when we
purchased our first Bell 206 B helicopter. Since then, we have flown
more than 45,000 hours providing support to our conventional logging
operations, fire-fighting and other external load operations throughout
British Columbia.
High Maintenance Standards
Our success in helicopter logging can be directly attributed to the
reliability of our aircraft and equipment. Much of the credit must go
to our skilled team of maintenance engineers who average over 12 years
each of helicopter experience.
Each heli-logging operation is organized so that on every
work rotation there is a full complement of three pilots and two or
three maintenance engineers on-site. The on-site engineers conduct
day-to-day maintenance of the aircraft. Each heli-logging location is
supported by a fully equipped service van containing satellite
communications, tools, equipment, consumables and minor rotable
components.
Major inspections and maintenance items are conducted at our Helicopter
Component & Airframe Overhaul Facility.
Emphasis on Safety
We take a proactive approach to safety and risk management in all
facets of our operations. We embrace the philosophy that safety is a
top down function, and that management has as much to do with the
success of a safe and risk-free operation as the personnel directly
involved with the operation.
